About the size of a badger, and looking a bit like a large Pine Marten, this is the strange and elusive Wolverine. They are members of the weasle family. There are only about 150 of these animals in the whole of Finland.
After a good day's worth of rain, the already marshy ground around the lakes became a swamp. The bears are massive - up to about 800lbs - but they still manage to get around on the boggy ground. This is Brutus having a bit of a gallop for no particular reason that I could see!
The aurora put in some weak appearances during my visit. Harry Reed was very keen on telling all of us when good northern light activity was predicted - using the KP scale - thanks Harry! (From hide 1)
